Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 August 2026 · Operator: PEFG, PLLC

The short version. Everything you type into the calculator stays in your browser. We never receive your salary, offer details, or exports. We do serve third-party advertising, and those advertisers set their own cookies — that part is covered in detail below.

1. Who we are

bigtechcalc.com is operated by PEFG, PLLC, an Illinois professional limited liability company. Contact: privacy@bigtechcalc.com.

2. Information you enter into the calculator

All projection maths runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. Salary figures, bonus targets, equity grant values, share prices, vesting schedules, company names and every other input are held in your browser's memory for the duration of your visit and are never transmitted to our servers. PDF, Excel and CSV files are generated on your own device.

The "Copy shareable link" feature encodes your comparison into the fragment portion of a URL — the part after the #. By web standard, fragments are never sent to a server in an HTTP request. If you share that link, only the person you send it to can read it. We cannot.

3. Ticker lookups

If you use the optional "Look up" button to fetch a share price, your browser sends only the ticker symbol to our server-side function, which forwards it to a third-party market data provider. No compensation data accompanies that request. Responses are cached by ticker so that repeat lookups are served without a further outbound call. We log no association between a ticker lookup and any individual.

4. Cookies and advertising

We display advertising served by Google AdSense.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You may opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org.
  • A full list of vendors Google may use is available in Google's advertising cookie documentation.

We do not set our own tracking cookies. We do not operate an advertising network, and we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended.

5. Analytics

[Complete or delete this section before launch.] If site analytics are enabled, the provider and the data it collects will be named here. If no analytics package is installed, this section should say so plainly.

6. Users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland

Where required, a consent management platform will request your consent before any non-essential cookie, including advertising cookies, is set. You may withdraw consent at any time through the same interface. Our lawful basis for serving personalised advertising in these jurisdictions is your consent; for operating the calculator itself it is our legitimate interest in providing the service you requested.

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or erasure of personal data we hold about you. Because the calculator transmits nothing to us, in most cases we hold no personal data about you at all. Requests may be sent to privacy@bigtechcalc.com.

7. California residents

Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA you may request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, contact privacy@bigtechcalc.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

8. Children

This site is directed at working adults evaluating employment offers. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Server logs

Our hosting provider maintains standard access logs, which may include IP address, user agent and requested URL, for security and abuse prevention. These are retained on the provider's standard schedule and are not used to build profiles.

10. Changes

We will update the "Last updated" date above when this policy changes. Material changes affecting how we handle personal data will be flagged on the site.

Note to the operator, remove before launch: this policy is a starting draft that reflects how the site is actually built. It is not a substitute for review by counsel licensed in your jurisdiction. Before publishing: complete or delete section 5, confirm the privacy@bigtechcalc.com mailbox exists and is monitored, and decide whether a consent management platform is required for your expected traffic mix. Google requires an EU-user-consent-compliant CMP for AdSense inventory served to EEA and UK users.
